Equal Opportunities, Inclusion and Diversity

Mission Statement of the AdBK Nuremberg

The Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg (AdBK) sees itself as a sanctuary of the (im)possible, as a place of individual personality development, of open discourse and also of constructive dissent. It sees itself as a place of tolerance, exchange, mutual stimulation, preservation of emancipatory achievements, freedom from defamation, appreciation and consideration.

It understands equal opportunity, inclusion and diversity as quality characteristics and enrichment for teaching, arts and sciences. It recognizes the sensitivity that must be exercised in light of the particularities of arts education, in which emotionality, identity, and physicality are components of artistic development. It promotes a culture of looking and advocates appreciative, respectful interaction that respects the dignity of each person.

At the AdBK, all persons are entitled to social interaction and an academic working and teaching environment that is free from discrimination, humiliation, abuse of power, unequal treatment, sexual harassment and violence. It is the responsibility of all to enable an academy culture derived from this self-image and to bring it to life through appropriate behavior.

The AdBK consistently pursues any misconduct. If necessary, it takes measures to protect those affected, raises awareness of how to deal with them and provides information about counseling services. It sees this as part of its obligation to create excellent academic working and teaching conditions for a contemporary and high-quality artistic education.
