The Representative Body for Severely Disabled Persons (SBV) at Bavarian universities is, alongside the staff council, an important institution that represents the interests of severely disabled persons and persons of equal status and promotes their participation in university life. It is an elected representative body in accordance with Sections 177-180 of Social Code IX (SGB IX).
The representative body for severely disabled persons has the task of promoting the integration of severely disabled persons in the workplace and in their studies, representing their interests, and providing them with advice and assistance. The university is obliged to inform the representative body for severely disabled persons immediately and comprehensively in all matters affecting individuals or disabled persons as a group, and to consult with them before making decisions.
