In seinen Videos, Fotografien und Installationen beschäftigt sich Niklas Goldbach mit dem Themenkomplex Architektur und Nekropolitik.
Der fotografische Blick – Bildkomposition und Aussage, das Bewegte wie auch das Bewegende des Bildes – zieht sich dabei als erkennbarer Leitfaden durch das Spektrum seiner bewegten und unbewegten Arbeiten und reicht von dokumentarischer Bestandsaufnahme bis hin zu affektiv aufgeladener Fiktionalisierung. Die Orte und Architekturen, die er für seine Foto- und Videoprojekte auswählt, verdichten dystopische Aspekte zivilisierter moderner und postmoderner Lebenswelten, sozialer Hierarchien sowie die zugehörigen Kontroll- und Machtsysteme.

 

Niklas Goldbach präsentierte seine Werke in zahlreichen Einzel-und Gruppenausstellungen an Orten wie dem Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Mori-Art Museum, Tokio, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein n.b.k., documenta 14 public programs, Berlinische Galerie - Museum für Moderne Kunst Berlin, Cornerhouse, Manchester, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Centre Pompidou Paris, Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, Houston FotoFest Biennale 2016, Bergen Assembly 2019 und den Kurzfilmtagen Oberhausen.
