With the start of the summer semester, the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg’s new exhibition program also begins. We invite you to a diverse range of exhibitions that offer insights into current artistic practices and projects.
The program kicks off with the exhibition featuring the results of the open call by the Leonardo – Center for Creativity and Innovation. Three selected, interdisciplinary projects were developed last year and have now been realized – supported by the LEONARDO Center and LEO Labs.
With Text in Performance, performance artists Chloê Langford, Gabriel_le Taillefort, and Talaj Szöke will present an evening at the Akademie Galerie on May 6, during which the texts read will be limited to the essentials: body and words.
On May 13, Haoru Ye’s solo exhibition Kontrollraum opens, featuring several alternative interfaces for the real-time control of a virtual space, presented in parallel with the exhibition at the Akademie Galerie.
From June 11–28, Antonia Weber and Samuel Göpfert present Spuren, an exhibition in which the presentation concept eliminates the distance between the work and the audience, as the works can be touched.
On various dates in July, Elena Horlau creates a space to foster intimate connections with digital media and devices. Body, Mind & Device explores new ways of engaging with technical equipment.
In August, art education students will address the issue of accessibility to exhibition spaces and the resulting visibility of the art world in the project Placeholder.
Two further highlights of the program – in addition to the events at the Akademie Galerie – are the symposium Art, Freedom, Public Sphere: The Academy in the Focus of Political Interests, taking place on May 27, as well as the opening of the annual exhibition on July 8 at 7 p.m. and the summer festival on July 11.
