AdBK graduate Philipp Selig opens his solo exhibition Die Pfeife der Kunst (The Pipe of Art) at the KREIS Galerie on Wednesday, March 4. He studied sculpture in the class of Prof. Marko Lehanka, who named him his master student.
Die Pfeife der Kunst is a critically obscured view of a self-drawn cityscape from the perspective of society's part-time dregs.
Philipp Selig interviewed all your daughters and concluded: “An image is something that is subject to the attempt at representation.” Every day, through our behavior, we transfer patterns of our morality into social forms and shape the consensus of the middle ground with our attempts at correctness. In doing so, we forget to ask for sources with pathos, blindly trusting in the promise of trickle-down prosperity. Forced to gawk, dissociated by contemporary media possibilities, so that we can never again claim, “We didn't know anything about it.”
Formally speaking, it is merely a game of supposedly worthless things that has been put together in order to be able to formulate the question of truth at all: sewn together from material, shaped by criticism, and painstakingly compiled over a long period of time.
