This year's Art Promotion Prize in the visual arts category goes to N'dru (Alexandru Șalariu), a graduate of the AdBK Nuremberg, together with Kim Ju Young and Michael Mönnich from Munich and Jonas Maria Ried from Weitnau. The Bavarian Art Promotion Awards, which are also presented in the category “Fine Arts” on the recommendation of a jury of experts, are aimed at artists who have completed their training, live in Bavaria, and demonstrate exceptional artistic talent.

This year's winners will be on display in an exhibition at the Galerie der Künstler*innen in Munich until March 8.

Alexandru Șalariu, artist name N'dru, born in 1994 in Iasi, Romania, lives and works in Nuremberg. N'dru first studied philosophy and chemistry at the University of Tübingen and then transferred to the AdBK Nuremberg in 2016 to study art education, sculpture, dynamic acoustic research, and painting. According to the jury, N'dru's interdisciplinary sound practice is characterized by precise conceptualization, critical appropriation, and innovative reinterpretation. In interactive installations, performances, and sound sculptures, playful yet critical analyses of our human and ideological fantasies of pleasure can be discovered, physically experienced, and questioned.
