Prof. Anike Joyce Sadiq has been shortlisted for the Bremen Pauli Prize.
The Pauli Prize is considered one of the most prestigious awards for contemporary art in Germany. The art prize honors artists living in the German-speaking world for their outstanding contributions to recent contemporary art.
Anike Joyce Sadiq was nominated by Yvette Mutumba, co-founder and director of Contemporary And (C&).
Anike Joyce Sadiq’s (*1985 in Heidelberg) artistic practice evolves through performative and minimal-conceptual approaches. In her installations, she often combines video, sculpture, sound, music, and text. In doing so, she interweaves questions about marginalized positions within mainstream society with the specific historical, social, and spatial conditions of the site. She explores the various dimensions of representation by examining the politics of the gaze, the right to opacity, and the possibility of withdrawal within her work and through the use of her own body.
As a professor of Fine Arts and Art Education, she has been teaching at the AdBK Nuremberg since 2024.
