As part of Tsukuba Global Science Week (29 September to 3 October), Annett Stenzel will present the painting techniques taught at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts to an international audience.
In a lecture, Annett Stenzel will also present the concept behind the international exhibition Surface Matter.
Furthermore, she will lead the three-part workshop Material in Dialogue together with Bettina Scholz and Caroline Streck. The focus will be on materials that can be regarded as transitional media for painting and whose boundaries are fluid: pastels and charcoal – materials of global artistic significance that played a prominent role in Germany and Europe, not least through Expressionism and through artists such as Käthe Kollwitz or, somewhat earlier, Odilon Redon. The workshop deliberately balanced the teaching of painting techniques with artistic experimentation.
Annett Stenzel has been head of the Painting Workshop (Material, Technique and Context) at the AdBK Nuremberg since 2023.
