After successfully completing their studies, graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg have various opportunities to apply for funding programs.

The City of Nuremberg and the State of Bavaria make it easier for graduates to start their artistic careers within the framework of studio grants.

The State of Bavaria awards the Bayerischen Kunstförderpreis. This prize, worth €6,000, is awarded annually to 16 artists for outstanding achievements. Applicants are nominated by the respective educational institutions, and the final decision is made by the State Minister for Education and Culture, Science and the Arts.

The Bavarian State Government provides a six-month guest residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris. Each year, it awards a scholarship to two young artists each from the fields of visual arts and music.

The State of Bavaria grants three artists in the visual arts under the age of 40 a scholarship for a six-month stay in the USA. The winners of the Bayerischen Kunstförderpreis are invited to participate in the competition. In addition, applicants may be nominated by a member of the Advisory Committee for Visual Arts.

The production of exhibition catalogs is subsidized within the framework of the debutant sponsorship. The State Ministry for Education and Culture, Science and the Arts can provide a contribution of €3,000 if organizers such as Bavarian art associations organize the first solo exhibition after the completion of artistic training.

Founded in 1975 by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Scholarship, in cooperation with the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, recognizes outstanding artistic achievement. Every two years, up to five scholarships are awarded to visual artists.

The Bavarian State Government awards scholarships to promote equal opportunities for women in teaching and research. Particularly talented women with a university education in the arts are to be given the opportunity to gain further professional qualifications within the framework of a selected artistic project.
