The media lab is used to explore new media as a creative medium. It allows students to experiment with media tools and realise artistic ideas using strategies and programs. Integral to study is a constant preoccupation with the relationship between illusion and manipulation, which influences human perception of reality and its evaluation.
The media lab provides expert support of students' media technology-based projects, while cooperation with other disciplines opens up further application fields. In the art education area new media offer innovative creative options in terms of didactic teaching methods.
