Beatrice Marchi is a visual artist living and working in Berlin. Her practice, which ranges from painting to video animation, sculpture to sound and performance, revolves around the personal issues of being a woman, born in a traditionally patriarchal country as Italy, and a practicing artist, offering commentary on gender stereotypes, localism and the question of professionalization. Inspired by Jacques Lecoq's clown method - according to which exhibiting one's vulnerabilities unites us with one another - her work addresses some of the questions of being an individual in relation to a collectivity, exploring guilty conscience, dissatisfaction and the search for approval.
