Lonny van Ryswyck is co-owner of design studio Atelier NL, together with creative partner Nadine Sterk. Atelier NL believes that design has the ability to connect local communities to the valuable resources that surround them. Their work explores the potential of local sourcing and production by focusing on the subtleties of the earth right under our feet.
They have created unique research methods to chart materials such as clay, sand or wood. Through their resulting work – which includes producing beautiful everyday objects such as crockery, glassware or even paints, Lonny and Nadine tell and share stories about the preciousness of our natural world. Lonny teaches at the Design Academy Eindhoven and gives lectures & workshops world-wide to share Atelier NL’s unique design philosophy that concentrates on raw materials, responsible production practices, and good craftsmanship.
Observation, thought and realization are the key features of Lonny’s design process. Everyday things that most people take for granted. Details that go unnoticed. These are the sources of her inspiration. The desire to awake consciousness for underestimated values and experiences guides her to create objects capable to carry people away, into her world.
Nadine’s work is a fusion of the natural, the technical and the emotional world. She finds in nature’s functions, and solutions an endless wealth of ideas. Translating her inspiration into versatile and feasible designs, she is able to produce objects that fascinate both the mind and the soul.
Atelier NL holds the notion of community engagement and public participation at their core by embracing local resources and focusing on the important connection between people and their environment. They invite you to ‘think global and dig local’ in order to implement new design strategies into your work and day-to-day lives.
Die Veranstaltung findet als Zoom-Videokonferenz statt.
