In don’t leave her threads unwoven, ANĐA looks for the breaking points, the invisible seams in their past and in the time when they did not exist—a time where their existence had no place. A place where the cracks of the body and the soul intertwine.
This work reflects the hands of their grandmother—weaving, knitting, sewing and dyeing wool—crafting pieces rich with care and tradition. Among the pieces are terluci for the dead, meant to guide them on their final journey, and uprtnjača, used by shepherds, filled with essentials and shaped by the rhythm of labor under open skies. These objects hold more than stitches; they hold memory, touch, and the weight of what fades. It’s about the silence that follows when traditions slip away, leaving only the fabric of their stories.
ANĐA is an artist working in the fields of photography, videography, {lecture} performance and poetry. In their practice, they delve into Balkan history through research with their family, exploring the meaning of memory and their own positioning within these frameworks.
