“Real estate” transcends distinctions between public and private, managed and unmanaged, recognised and imagined, and begins with an ancient desire to understand the world — one based on rooted customs of ownership, possession, and territory.
- What does it feel like in there?
The rational answer to this question involves a kind of person who, in addition to the spiritual, also possesses something material — something either to grasp, or with which one could grasp.
Each piece starts with a form — burdened with decoration but freed by its function. These two factors do not neutralise but rather compensate for each other; therefore, they provide not a definitive answer or statement,
but an open discussion. Inviting the viewer, they question classical ownership theory and their position within it. The ensemble of these forms and interactions results in a difficult-to-decipher language that sings a song but also dictates rules — as much regarding behaviour, hospitality, and use, as about what can and cannot be said.
